jenkins TOWNSHIP

Jenkins Township is nestled in the northwest corner of Crow Wing County, bordering the City of Jenkins and the southern portion of Cass County. Although only half a township, it has a very active governing body and proactive residents protective of the environment. It boasts that it is a recreational paradise, with lakeshore on five lakes including Upper Hay, Lower Hay, and Whitefish Lake. There are three major public accesses that provide for the public’s recreational use. The beautiful and scenic Pine River meanders through the township, providing for a canoe route that abounds with wildlife and empties into Upper Whitefish. Two Scenic Byways are located on CR 15 and 16 within the borders, both of which provide for bicycle and walking recreation. The DNR’s Walleye stripping station on the mouth of the Pine River is a major attraction in the spring, and an abundance of swan, geese, and pelicans can often be found on Rat Lake or on the river in the spring and fall. Jenkins Township is a jewel of the north, a special place to live and visit.
